Alaa Wafai is the Co-Founder and Director of SARD, bringing over a decade of leadership in humanitarian response and organizational development. He began his humanitarian journey as a volunteer with the Syrian Red Crescent in 2002, contributing to the Iraq war response in 2003 and the Lebanon war response in 2006. With a background in Management Information Systems from the University of Aleppo, Alaa combines strategic oversight with hands-on experience in operations, budgeting, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement. He is known for his innovative problem-solving, commitment to accountability, and a leadership style that emphasizes collaboration and humor. Under his guidance, SARD has grown into a respected force for community-driven change in Syria and Türkiye.
